How to make a Secret Santa song
- Install MusicTune AI on your iPhone, iPad or Android device and open it. No sign-up needed.
- Tap Create and stay in Simple mode.
- Under Describe your song, type up to 300 characters with their name and two or three true things: “A cheerful Christmas pop song for my coworker Priya, queen of the color-coded spreadsheet, who starts every meeting with ‘quick one’ and has kept the office plant alive for three years. From her Secret Santa.”
- Pick a Mood such as Joyful or Whimsical and a Style that suits the office (pop, swing, a soul ballad, a rap), or leave them to the AI.
- Tap Create song. Two versions, usually in about a minute, with lyrics, a title and cover art. Read the lyrics before the exchange.
From December 1 to 25: the Christmas template
In December the Christmas template on the Home screen does the same with a form. Tap Christmas, put their name in Dedicate it to, and write the office material under Personal touch: the inside jokes, the project you survived together, what you actually like about them. Choose the song language and tap Generate song. Before December, Simple mode does the job from a description.
Your exact words, sung
For a running joke that has to be word-perfect, or one verse per teammate, switch to Custom mode and write the Lyrics yourself, up to 5,000 characters. MusicTune AI sings them as written. Choose the Voice (Female, Male or Auto) and the Tempo, pick a style and a mood, add a Title and tap Create song. The “Write with AI” lyric helper (MusicTune Pro) can draft a first version from your notes, and you edit every line before the song is made.
What to put in it
- Their name and their desk life: the mug, the snack drawer, the 4:59 pm “one more thing”.
- One real compliment: the time they covered for you, the way they explain things. The joke lands better with something true next to it.
- A catchphrase for the chorus: put it in quotes in the description, or write the chorus around it in Custom mode.
- The whole team: one song with a line per person (Custom mode), or one song each for a group Secret Santa; each song is a creation with two versions.
- Keep it kind. Nothing about looks, performance reviews or anything they didn’t tell the whole office. It is a gift, and anyone with the link can play it.
Good to know
- Songs made in Simple or Custom mode appear in the public Explore feed by default; only MusicTune Pro members can switch off Show in Explore when they create a song. Anyone with the link can play it, so keep the link to yourself until the exchange.
- Want to stay the secret Santa? Leave your own name out of the description and the lyrics.
- The AI isn’t guaranteed to sing the name, and an unusual name may be pronounced differently. Read the lyrics in the app first, spell the name as it sounds, or write the lyrics yourself in Custom mode.
- It can’t imitate a famous singer: no celebrity or sound-alike voices, and descriptions can’t use artist names. The AI writes an original song.
- The Christmas template appears on the Home screen from December 1 to 25 and the New Year template from December 26 to January 1; the rest of the year, Simple mode and Custom mode do the job.
- Our Terms allow personal, non-commercial use. A gift between coworkers is personal use; the company’s marketing, a company channel or client work isn’t, and Pro doesn’t add commercial rights.

Should I use the Christmas template or Simple mode?
From December 1 to 25, either. The Christmas template asks for the name (“Dedicate it to”), a “Personal touch” box and the song language, and writes the song from them. Simple mode takes a free description of up to 300 characters with a style and a mood of your choice. Before December, use Simple mode.
Can I make one song for the whole team?
Yes. In Custom mode write a line or a verse per person, up to 5,000 characters, and the AI sings them as written. For a group Secret Santa you can also make one song per person; each is a creation with two versions.
Can I stay anonymous?
Keep your own name out of the description and the lyrics; the AI writes only from what you give it. Then hand over the link the way you would any Secret Santa gift. Keep in mind the song is public in Explore by default, and only MusicTune Pro members can switch that off when they create it.
Which languages can it be in?
You choose the song language in the template: English, Turkish, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Japanese or Arabic. In Simple mode the song comes out in your app language (13 are available), and in Custom mode your own lyrics are sung as you wrote them.
How long does it take?
Usually a minute or two, and you get two versions. In most cases you can start listening while the song is still being made.
Can I play it at the office party?
For personal use, yes: send the link, play it at the office party or post it on a personal account that isn’t monetized. Our Terms don’t grant commercial rights, so no monetized YouTube or TikTok, no streaming releases, no ads and no business use.
