MusicTune AI vs Suno: which is better for a song on your phone?

Is MusicTune AI better than Suno? Neither is better at everything, so here is the honest version. For a birthday song on your phone, with the person’s name, age and a few details, MusicTune AI (an app for iPhone, iPad and Android) is built for exactly that: fill in a template, type a short description, paste your own lyrics or pick a photo, and in about a minute you get two full-length versions with vocals, lyrics and cover art. The first creation is free and needs no sign-up. Suno covers more ground: a web app plus iPhone and Android apps, songs of up to 8 minutes, and commercial rights and stems on its paid plans. Choose Suno if…

  • You want to publish, monetize or use the music for work. Suno’s Pro and Premier plans list “Commercial use rights”; MusicTune AI never grants them, on any plan.
  • You want to start from audio you already have. Suno’s free plan lets you “Upload up to 8 min of audio”; MusicTune AI has no audio upload, remix or vocal removal.
  • You work on a computer. Suno is a web app as well as a phone app. MusicTune AI only makes songs in its iPhone, iPad and Android app (a shared song opens on a web page, but that is just a player).
  • You make a lot of songs. Suno’s free plan is “enough to make 10 songs per day” and Pro is “2,500 credits per month” (its App Store listing calls that “500 songs/mo”). MusicTune AI’s free plan is one creation every 12 hours after an ad, and Pro is 30 songs a week or 100 a month.
  • You want long tracks or stems from any song. Suno generates “up to 8 minutes of music in a single generation” and offers stem separation on paid plans; MusicTune AI songs are usually 2 to 5 minutes with no length setting, and stems work only on its own songs.

Choose MusicTune AI if…

  • You want one personal song, on your phone, today. A birthday song for your mom, a wedding song for friends, a thank-you for a teacher. You get two full-length versions in about a minute and can share a link that opens anywhere.
  • You want a template that asks for the name and the occasion. Under For an occasion on the Home screen, the Birthday template asks for the Birthday star’s name, the Age, Her, Him or Them, an optional Personal touch and the song Language, then you tap Generate song. Wedding, Anniversary, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Friendship, Apology and Farewell work the same way, and seasonal templates appear in their season. We found no equivalent on the Suno pages and store listings we read (checked on 29 October 2026).
  • You want a song from a photo. Pick or take a photo and the AI writes a song inspired by it.
  • You want to try it free without signing up. The first creation is free, as a guest, with no email or password. After that, a short ad gives a free creation every 12 hours when one is available.
  • You use an iPad or an older iPhone. MusicTune AI runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 15 or later; Suno’s App Store listing says “Designed for iPhone” and “Requires iOS 18.0 or later”, and its Compatibility list doesn’t include iPad (checked on 29 October 2026).
  • You want the app in your language. The interface is in 13 languages, Simple-mode songs are written and sung in the app language, and every template has its own song-language choice.

A birthday song on your phone: how each one works

MusicTune AI: open the app (no sign-up), tap Birthday under For an occasion, enter the Birthday star’s name and Age, pick Her, Him or Them, add a Personal touch (hobbies, inside jokes, a memory), choose the song Language and tap Generate song. Two versions, usually in a minute or two. Our birthday song guide has the details.

Suno: in the app or on the web you type a description or your own lyrics; its listings describe “a single text prompt” or “uploading an audio recording” as the starting points. You write the name, age and details into the prompt or lyrics yourself. Its free plan is “enough to make 10 songs per day”, and the songs are for “personal, non-commercial use” unless you subscribe (checked on 29 October 2026).

With either app, read the lyrics before you send the song: an AI isn’t guaranteed to sing a name, and an unusual name may be pronounced differently. In MusicTune AI, Custom mode sings your own lyrics exactly as written.

What MusicTune AI doesn’t do

  • No commercial use on any plan: no monetized YouTube or TikTok, no streaming releases, no ads, no business use. Pro doesn’t change that.
  • No web or desktop version, and no offline creation.
  • No audio upload, remix or vocal removal of other songs; stems and MIDI only for songs made in the app.
  • No celebrity or sound-alike voices, and no artist names in descriptions.
  • No song-length or BPM setting, and no box to type in a style of your own.
  • Songs made in Simple or Custom mode are public in the Explore feed by default; only Pro can switch off Show in Explore. Anyone with a song’s link can open it.

Our guide to choosing an AI song maker goes through the whole checklist, and the free plan page explains what is free and what needs Pro.

Is MusicTune AI better than Suno?

Not at everything. Suno is the better choice if you need commercial rights, audio upload, a web app, long tracks or dozens of songs a day. MusicTune AI is built for a personal song on your phone: occasion templates that ask for the name and details, photo-to-song, two versions in about a minute, and a free first creation with no sign-up. On 29 October 2026 suno.com/pricing listed “50 credits per day”, which Suno’s help center says is “enough to make 10 songs per day”, with “No monthly song downloads”, “No commercial rights” and “No stem separation”. Will MusicTune AI sing the birthday person’s name?

The AI writes the lyrics from the details you enter, but it isn’t guaranteed to sing their name, and an unusual name may be pronounced differently.
